Viktoria Memminger

Born in Germany, Viktoria grew up between a Munich metropolitan lifestyle and Bavarian tradition.

Having studied Art History at UCL, she started her career working at the Basel and Hamptons art fairs, as a curator in Munich, and artist liaison in London.

Driven by a fascination for nourishment, culture and food, she then moved on to work for the Soho House Group and explored how all our favourite hang out spots are run. She is now majoring in the Psychology of Eating at IPE because she wants to dig deeper into the relationship between nourishment and human beings, and is already working with private clients. Viktoria aims to one day run a charity for people with eating challenges.

Q&A

If there was one piece of art you could feature in, which would it be and why?

I would like to feature in Monet's 'The Water Lily Pond', because it is so beautiful. I would be lying by the side and smelling the fresh grass whilst listening to the soft water gently moving the lilies up and down the pond.

Who inspires you and why? An artist, a family member, someone current or historical?

That would have to be Frida Kahlo. The sheer pain of her personal suffering (both physcal and emotional), and the strong message her art carries move me every time.

What are your cultural aspirations? What do you still want to see, do and achieve?

I would like to see a shift in what we think of as 'culture' to a more holistic appreciation for beauty in our lives - the food we eat, how we move, how we approach new ideas.

What are your favourite cultural cities in the world and why?

Venice. I loved living in Venice, but I knew my time was up when I no longer got lost on a daily basis.

Munich is grand, clean and friendly - culture is not just part of what this city has to offer, it's deeply rooted in its identity.

St Petersburg. I'm sure anyone with a love for the dramatic and an appreciation for the extravagant will agree with me on this one.

What are you up to at the moment and where can we find it?

I am working for Headspace, a wellness & meditation app - slowly working my way to making the world a happier and healthier place. Otherwise, I help private clients overcome anything related to nourishment. You can reach me at viktoriamemminger@gmail.com for more information.
