CARLOTTA LOVERINI BOTTA
A restless traveller and sailor, Carlotta cultivated her passion for art from a very young age. After studying philosophy, Carlotta collaborated with various magazines to write about contemporary art, including Vogue and L’Officiel, and curated the young artists programme at the Milanese gallery ProjectB. In 2012 she founded Artistic Traits, a London based company dedicated to developing contemporary art projects in Europe. For her most recent project, Carlotta worked in cooperation with the legendary Paris art publishing house Cahiers d’Art.
If there was one piece of art you could feature in, which would it be and why?
Ron Herron (of Archigram)’s Walking City, for its vision of a mobile world where no one needs to be left behind.
Who inspires you and why? An artist, a family member, someone current or historical?
A woman of great culture and charm, my mother introduced us to a world of fantasy when we were growing up and the concept of beauty.
What are your cultural aspirations? What do you still want to see, do and achieve?
I would like to see my country, Italy, gain importance on the international cultural scene. We have some of the most amazing cultural variety in the world and it could be better utilized as a strong resource for improving the quality of life for many people.
What are your favourite cultural cities in the world and why?
Paris has a spectacular cultural offering and Parisians have such a deep passion for their culture. In recent years, the artistic scene has seen exciting developments, such as the renovation of the Musée Picasso and the opening of Louis Vuitton Foundation.
What are you up to at the moment and where can we find it?
I am currently working alongside curator Jane Neal on an amazing show featuring Annie Morris at Project Gallery, as well as on a piece for Italian Vogue about the upcoming Frieze Week in London. I am also looking forward to curating a solo show of the young artist Margherita Chiarva at the Virginie Louvet gallery in Paris in November.
